报告题目: Quantum simulations of pair production processes

报告摘要: With a few-qubit quantum computer, we develop a novel algorithm and experimentally study the Schwinger effect, the electron-positron pair production in a strong electric field in (3+1)D. The algorithm is tested on an IBM quantum computer with 5 qubits, where the observed pair production rate is consistent with the theoretical prediction within experimental errors. Inspired by the effective action in the Schwinger effect, we apply the same method to the calculation of the preheating process at the end of inflation. We calculated the inflaton decay rate from the one-loop effective action, with results in accord with previous WKB methods. Finally, we propose the quantum simulation of the one photon pair production (the Breit-Wheeler pair production) in a trapped ion.


报告人简介: 许彬,北京大学理论物理研究所博士后。2015年学士毕业于中国科学技术大学近代物理系,2022年博士毕业于美国佛罗里达大学物理系。主要从事高能物理理论和唯象学研究,最近的研究兴趣主要在于量子技术在高能物理中的应用,例如量子计算机对量子场论的模拟,量子探测器对引力波和超轻暗物质的精密测量等。此外还从事粒子物理味对称性,费米子质量模型构造,中微子唯象学和宇宙学等方向的研究。
