题目:Experiment design for quantum state preparation and tomography

摘要:This talk is to introduce some of my recent work on quantum state engineering and its applications in NMR experiments. They include: 

(1) State tomography experiment design via integer programming. We apply 0-1 integer programming to the problem of searching for minimal set of readout pulses for a state tomography experiment; 

(2) State tomography via variational hybrid quantum-classical method. We propose a hybrid quantum-classical version of the GRAPE algorithm, which can solve both quantum optimal control and quantum state tomography problem; 

(3) Optimal experiment design for quantum state transfer. We analyze the state transfer efficiency problem for different class of quantum channels, including unitary, mixed unitary and Markovian. We present a strategy of optimal experiment design, which incorporates coherent radio-frequency field control, gradient field control and phase cycling, aiming at maximizing state transfer efficiency and meanwhile minimizing the number of experiments required.

I will explain very briefly each of the above research problem and our solution method.
