题目:On-chip ring-shaped optical microcavities: from single element to a cascaded chain

摘要:On-chip integrated whispering-gallery mode optical microcavities have been attracting continuous research attentions due to their key merits of long photon lifetime and small mode volume. In this talk, I will give an overview of my previous work in the past five years on silicon-based on-chip integrated planar and vertical ring-shaped cavities and their emerging practical applications. For single element ring cavities, novel functionalities, including micro/nanoparticle manipulation, selective photon-plasmon coupling and graphene-activated detection of molecular dynamic change will be discussed. For dual or multiple coupled cavities, novel phenomena of coherent coupling in the configurations including novel nanomembrane-based photonic molecules and imperfect coupled-resonator optical-waveguides will be been presented. The related promising applications on label-free optofluidic biosensors by a pattern recognition scheme will also be introduced. 


报告人简介:王嘉威,2011年和2016年毕业于中山大学理工学院和香港科技大学工学院电子与计算机工程系,分别获得获得理学学士和工学博士学位。现任德国莱布尼茨固态与材料研究所(IFW Dresden)博士后研究员,同时兼任德国开姆尼茨工业大学电子工程与信息学院的纳米薄膜科研中心光学实验室负责人。主要研究兴趣包括微纳光学,微腔光子学,硅基光子学,光传感,光操控等。当下的科研方向是新型三维功能纳米薄膜的光学研究和光传感,光通信方面的应用。曾以第一作者或通讯作者身份发表于Nano Lett., ACS Photonics, Adv. Opt. Mater., Lab Chip等期刊。
